The Language Opportunities for Tots (LOFT) program is a center-based, full day early intervention program designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of young children. Daily activities enrich and enhance each child’s language, cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. Certified teachers and licensed teaching assistants provide care that is warm, supportive, nurturing, and responsive to each child’s needs.
Within LOFT’s daily schedule, each child is given opportunities to create, explore, and influence their environment, with an emphasis on developing communication and problem solving skills. A balance of child-centered and adult-modeled activities promote interpersonal interaction and provide the opportunity to develop a positive self-concept. All instruction is given through Comprehensive Communication.
Mission and Philosophy
To promote language fluency in every child through immersion in American Sign Language paired with spoken English.
To give every child the ability to communicate freely with EVERYONE in their environment, without an interpreter.
To give every child both visual and auditory communication—multi-sensory learning - to maximize their academic and social success.
To provide visual language (signing) that supports and clarifies the auditory input (spoken English) that a deaf child receives through their cochlear implant or hearing aids, in order to promote and enhance language comprehension.
To provide a strong academic foundation to every child for Kindergarten success and beyond.
