Your Support Makes a Difference

In 1915 the need to provide an education for deaf and hard of hearing students in the community presented itself to Fr. Henry Waldhaus. He chose St. Rita, “Saint of the Impossible”, to be a constant reminder that with the proper education, anything is possible for our students. His dream lives on in the vision, leadership and commitment of the current administration. St. Rita School continues to innovatively educate infants and students who need special methods of communication and technological support from throughout the United States and around the world.

Many people in the community know of St. Rita School for the Deaf, but may not realize the continuous need for financial support. The family income of many of our students each year falls below the poverty level. This means very few can afford the full tuition cost. The success of our fundraising efforts are imperative so that the deaf and hard of hearing children we serve may continue to learn and grow in a safe, value-oriented environment that facilitates their educational, social and spiritual development.

The 1720 Club was created over 20 years ago to supplement the cost of educating our deaf and hard of hearing students. 1720 is a year-long raffle, which was named after our address, and is the amount of cash given away each month. Because 1720 is a year-long raffle, once your tickets are in the hopper they remain in the hopper for one full year. Winning tickets are returned to the hopper – giving you the opportunity to win again & again!

In the center section of this brochure are nine imprinted tickets and nine blank tickets. It is our intention that these tickets will be easy for you to return to us with your payment. The blank tickets allow you the opportunity to purchase tickets for friends and loved ones for a special occasion or…just because they would enjoy the cash & surprise! If you choose to surprise someone – fill in his or her name and address. If it is a gift, mark which card you would like sent to them and the date you would like it sent. This special greeting will be sent to them on the date you have indicated while giving them a year-round gift…an opportunity to win cash!
We are asking for your support to ensure that deaf and hard of hearing children may benefit from up-to-date computer technology, assistive listening devices and a full academic curriculum. Your participation in the 1720 Club is so important to providing them the opportunity to be in an environment that supports their needs while guaranteeing them the opportunity to excel in the technological 21st century.
