Tours and Observation Hours
St. Rita School for the Deaf welcomes and encourages people (over the age of 18)
from the community to observe and take tours of the school. Tours are a great way for people to observe
the students in action and learn more about the school programs in depth.
If you would like to schedule
a tour please contact Angela Frith.
Most tours take at least 1 hour. Tour sizes are limited to 25 people or less.
Exceptions are made for particular groups.
Students under the age of 18 may request information
regarding our programs to be picked-up at the school by contacting Angela Frith.
After School Activities Program
High School students and College students who have an interest in learning more sign language,
interacting with deaf people, or seeing deaf culture in action, are encouraged to participate in
the many activities offered after school at St. Rita School for the Deaf or in the community.
All of the school’s team sports events and special events are open to the public.
Presentations and Displays
St. Rita School for the Deaf staff and teachers are more than happy to make presentations or set up
displays to groups in the community regarding the school and its programs.

Sign Language Classes
Learning sign language has grown in popularity over the past several years. St. Rita School for
the Deaf offers community sign language classes on Wednesday nights
through the school year from 6:30-8:00 p.m.There are times in which St. Rita School for the Deaf will teach and hold
sign language classes for particular groups in the community. Please contact
Angela Frith for more information.
Alphabet cards (ABC cards) can be sent to people or groups free of charge.
If you are interested in obtaining these cards, please contact

Resources on Deaf Culture and Sign Language
St. Rita School for the Deaf Library is open to students, staff, and parents during the school day
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-2:45 p.m. The library offers different resources in Deaf Culture
and sign language including books and videos. If you are interested in visiting the library to obtain
these resources, please contact Laura Edwards to see if our
library has what you need. You can also visit our links page to obtain other
resources.
St. Rita Signing Choirs
St. Rita School for the Deaf offers a variety of after school activities to grade school and high school
students. One of the activities offered is the Signing Choirs of St. Rita School for the Deaf, the high
school signing choir and the grade school signing choir (Hands of Love). The choirs schedule includes
various community events. Past performances have included signing the National Anthem at the Great
American Ballpark for the Cincinnati Reds, Delta Zeta of Miami University’s Puttin’ on the Hits event,
community picnics and events, local business meetings and events. To schedule choir performances,

Support for Parents
Currently St. Rita School for the Deaf offers a Sign N Say Parent Group on the third Friday of the month
at 7:00 p.m. for parents of children who have been diagnosed with Apraxia. Your child does not
have to be a student at St. Rita School for the Deaf.
