Animation

Technology teacher Ted Jewell introduced his classes to model animation and watched his students come to life. After attending a technology workshop that taught basic animation techniques, Ted was anxious to give his students an opportunity to create their own animated movies. Students used simple toys like Barbies, cars and other bendable figures as their characters and props. Working in groups, they were responsible for writing a script and decorating a set that served as the backdrop for their animation. Students used digital cameras to take photographs of their models in different positions.

Using a computer program called Movie Maker, the photographs were loaded sequentially and played back at a high speed to simulate motion. Ted’s students were the ones that really came to life as they watched in amazement, their very first animation.
