Enrollment Procedure

Admission Policy

St. Rita School for the Deaf is a private, Catholic school owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. It admits students without regard to race, creed, national or ethnic background. Because it is a school with a special mission, only those students with a hearing impairment will be considered for admission. Students must be between the ages of four and twenty-one.

Students considered for admission must have a significant degree of hearing loss, be of normal mentality, and be able to work in a group setting. St. Rita School for the Deaf does not offer the vocational program which some children need; nor does it offer the kinds of program in which the student needs one-to-one tutoring as the usual mode of instruction. Individuals are sometimes accepted under special circumstances, when it is judged that the school's programs will be beneficial to the student even though he/she is not capable of mastering the usual academic program.
