About the Classes
Before the autumn of 1995, Cincinnati Speech and Hearing Center (CSHS), Community
Services for the Deaf, and St. Rita School for the Deaf held separate sign
language classes. These organizations have
since come together to offer the best sign language classes in the Cincinnati
area. These classes are designed to enable our students the ability to converse
with most deaf or hard of hearing persons in the
community.Classes are held at St. Rita School for the Deaf on Wednesday nights
from 6:30-8 p.m., for a 9 week period. An optional highly recommended lab is
offered on Monday night from 6:30 - 8p.m., for an
additional fee. Labs start the week following the start of sign class. Beginner
I sign language class is a pre-requisite for Lab.

Lab
Taking this option will provide an interactive signing environment and will emphasize small group
activities, videotapes, story time, games, and drills with members from the Deaf community working
as activity and lab leaders. Lab reinforces classroom learning to help develop strong communication
skills. It is highly recommended for all sign students, and is open to students from other sign
language classes offered in the Cincinnati area. Beginner 1 sign is a pre-requisite.

Our instructors are highly skilled in sign language. Some of them teach deaf
