Curtis Pride is a former Major League Baseball player who was born deaf. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed, and played for teams such as the Los Angeles Angels. Curtis's mother contracted rubella while pregnant, which caused him to be born deaf. He was raised orally and later learned American Sign Language (ASL). Wow! Playing basketball with our students and staff this morning was a wonderful experience. We learned about the rules of wheelchair basketball and had a great time.
