The sun rises over St. Rita once again. Golden light has touched every brick, every tree, and every memory since 1915. Listen to the stillness. Feel the music. Let your heart remember all who walked this campus before us and all who keep its spirit alive today.
Through every season, God’s blessings have surrounded this land and the people who call it home. 💚💛

Yesterday, we welcomed special guests from DWAVE (Deaf World Against Violence Everywhere) all the way from Columbus, Ohio! They met with our high school students to talk about staying safe, knowing your rights, and understanding where to turn for support in difficult situations whether it’s getting an interpreter for the police, hospitals, or other emergencies.
We’re so thankful to DWAVE for educating and empowering our students to advocate for themselves and others in the Deaf community. 🦁

🎬 Yesterday in Digital Media with Mr. Jon, our high school students went outside to film the 3–6 students for an upcoming project. One of the 3–6 students was so excited and begged to help with the filming, and our high school crew made it happen! 🎥

Moments like these remind us how teamwork and creativity bring our school community together.

🍚🌏 Food Around the World – Rice! Yesterday, our preschool students had their lesson in the Food Around the World series. One of our wonderful preschool parents volunteered to share all about rice. How it’s grown, where it comes from, and the many delicious ways it can be enjoyed!
Students even got to taste rice topped with veggies of their choice and learned how to eat with chopsticks, with a little help, of course! 🥢

It was such a fun, hands-on way to learn about food, culture, and trying new things. 💚💛🦁

Real World Learning in Action! Our Work Study students presented on Deaf Awareness to 84.51°, teaching staff about Deaf culture and inclusion while proudly representing our school and community. After their presentation, they had the opportunity to tour 84.51°, a Cincinnati based data science company that partners with Kroger. Students learned how technology and creativity work together to make smart business decisions and explored exciting career paths in tech and marketing. 💚💛

🔥🚒 Fire Safety Day at SRSD! We were so excited to welcome our students back from Fall Break, and what better way to start the week than with a visit from the Evendale Fire Department! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒Firefighters came to teach our students basic fire safety tips and what to do in case of an emergency at home. Everyone learned a lot and had a great time meeting our local heroes! 💚💛🦁

A huge thank you to the Evendale Fire Department for keeping our community safe and for taking the time to visit our school. 🙏

Two of our Work Study students took their learning beyond the classroom during an engaging visit to the Downtown Market with other schools. They explored the market’s history, met local vendors, and learned about fresh, locally grown foods. 🥕🍞🍎

Students also took part in a Q&A with local entrepreneurs, gaining valuable insight into how ideas grow into real businesses and discovering career paths in culinary arts, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

This hands-on experience supports their Agriculture and Culinary Pre-Apprenticeship pathway, helping connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities. 💚💛🦁

🍁🍂 Mrs. Kim’s class read “Leaf Hunt” and then got creative with a fall art project! Students painted colorful leaves using shaving cream and rolling beads in a box. Fun, sensory way to bring the story to life! 💚💛🦁
