#throwbackthursday While transferring old photos into our digital archives this summer, we came across a CD-ROM labeled 2004. Yes, a CD-ROM... that's a throwback by itself! 💿 We had to see what was on it, and we discovered these photos from more than 20 years ago. The best part? Some of the staff pictured are still working at St. Rita today!

Can you spot them? And if you recognize yourself or someone else, share your memories with us in the comments!

Learning about our emotions! Our students talked about Green Zone emotions and what it feels like to be calm, happy, focused, and ready to learn. Then they got creative by drawing pictures of what they look like when they are in the Green Zone! A fun way to help students recognize, understand, and express their emotions.

One last first day for our seniors! Here are our five seniors on their first day of the 2026–2027 school year. Many of them have grown up together and shared years of memories, friendships, learning, and experiences at St. Rita. It's hard to believe this is their final year with us! We're excited to cheer them on, celebrate their accomplishments, and watch them make the most of their senior year. We know the future holds exciting things for each of them. For now, let's enjoy every moment of their final year at St. Rita!

As a photographer, these two students spotted their teacher and couldn't contain their excitement. They ran straight toward her for a big hug! Seeing a moment like this through my camera is a beautiful reminder that the relationships built at St. Rita go far beyond the classroom. Our students and staff aren't just part of a school community. They're part of our St. Rita family. That's what St. Rita is all about. #srsdbettertogether

What a great first day back! It was SO good seeing our students again! After almost three months of summer break, we couldn't believe how much some of them have grown. Seriously... when did that happen?! Seeing their smiles, reconnecting with everyone, and having our classrooms full again reminded us how much we missed them.

We are excited to work alongside our students, watch them learn and grow, and see them thrive throughout the year.
We gotta love it! Here's to an amazing 2026–2027 school year! Better Together!

Better Together in action! Last week, our staff kicked off the upcoming school year with a fun Better Together Staff Scavenger Hunt at Meijer! Working in teams, staff completed a variety of school-themed shopping challenges while staying within a budget. From creative finds to lots of laughter, the event was a great reminder that teamwork makes everything more fun.

A special thank you to Ms. Rachel for coming up with this creative activity and bringing everyone together before the school year begins. It was a wonderful way to reconnect, build relationships, and start the year with our Better Together theme in mind.

We can't wait to see how we'll continue living out Better Together throughout the 2026–2027 school year!

Today, the St. Rita School for the Deaf community joins the Deaf community in mourning the passing of Deaf actress Kaylee Hottle, best known for her roles in Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Kaylee inspired countless Deaf children by showing the world what is possible through talent, confidence, and pride in being Deaf. Her legacy will continue to inspire our students and future generations.

Please join us in praying for Kaylee's family, the Deaf community in Texas, the Texas School for the Deaf, where she was a senior, and all whose lives she touched.

Rest in peace, Kaylee. Your legacy will never be forgotten.
